Lynn Hyatt, Senior Pastor

Describe the calling you felt to ministry.

The first indication I had that God might call me to ministry was in college.  During a chapel service, the speaker used Ezekiel 37 to preach on the necessity of the proclamation of God’s Word.  There began in me that day a growing desire to be one of those who teaches and preaches God’s Word.

How did you end up in Callahan, FL?

The Pastor Search Committee at Callahan First contacted me about the possibility of serving as Pastor here.  A couple of individuals, including my father-in-law, had recommended me as a possible candidate.  We went through the process of submitting a resume, the committee visited the church where I was serving as Youth Pastor to hear me preach, and then I was invited to preach a trial sermon at FBC Callahan.  The church subsequently voted to call me as Pastor.  Peggy and I began our ministry here July 1, 1979.

What phrase from the Bible do you cling to when going through tough times?

Second Corinthians 12:9 “My grace is sufficient for you…”

If you could change places with a Bible Character, who would you choose and why?

James the brother of Jesus.  He was allowed to see the church move from its birth at Pentecost to the worldwide missions agency God intended it to be.

What household chore do you hate the most?

If you could go back to high-school, what is a piece of advice you would tell yourself?

Guard your heart.  Proverbs 4:23
