Todd Carr, Youth Pastor/Church Planter

Describe the calling you felt to ministry.

I remember a missionary coming to our church when I was in HS and sharing about full-time ministry.  But, I was always afraid I would be stuck somewhere with no money, no partner in life, and suffering for Jesus so I brushed it off and went on to other things. Then, when I was a young married and attending a church in St. Augustine, there was a group of teens coming that I connected with on the softball team.  The pastor asked if I would help in a Sunday school class.  From there, God rekindled my heart for ministry and started on a journey to finish my Bible degree and work with students. God seemed to bless everywhere Robin and me went and worked with students as long as we stayed faithful to Him. Now we have a new calling in our life to start a plant in Yulee in the Wildlight Development, and we are excited about the opportunity that God has provided us.

How did you end up in Callahan, FL?

We were at the time pursuing a call in DC when a friend of ours was here pursuing a call and He told Pastor Lynn that I was the type of youth pastor he was looking for.  Pastor Lynn contacted me and I had told him we were in the middle of praying through DC and would let him know if the Lord did not lead us there. Long story short, God had other plans and we started pursuing the possibility of ministering in Callahan.  That was 18 years ago and the rest is history.

What phrase from the Bible do you cling to when going through tough times?

“Make the most of every opportunity…” (Eph.5:16a NIV) Just a reminder of whatever state or circumstance you find yourself in, it does not surprise God.  So, make the best of it!

If you could change places with a Bible Character, who would you choose and why?

Toss up between David & Peter.  Both have had their ups and downs but one witnessed God working through him in supernatural ways the other got to spend three and a half years following Jesus seeing everything He did and every person He touched!  Both were all in!

What household chore do you hate the most?

Dusting

If you could go back to high-school, what is a piece of advice you would tell yourself?

Finish College first, Watch Your Mouth, Finish College first, Watch Your Mouth, Finish college first, Watch your mouth!
